Puerto Vallarta has three very nice modern movie theaters. When things get hot in Puerto Vallarta, a nice way to cool down and get out of the mid-summer sun is at one of these cinemas. There’s always one of the latest block busters playing, let’s check it out.
Movie Time
You want to try something really different while visiting Puerto Vallarta! Go to a movie! Seriously. The three collections of theaters are brand new, air conditioned, and feature plush, comfy seating. At forty or fifty pesos, tickets are cheap (so is parking), you can often choose English or Spanish with subtitles either way (depending on scheduling) thereby turning your movie-going experience intio a super cool Spanish lesson. Recently I watched Toy Story 3 with my daughter in Espanol, and it was great! We are talking first-run big budget American movies—along with Mexican and international fare as well. For the last ten years we lived in the US, my wife and I, and our daughter, watched a cheap night out—“let’s go to the movies!”–turn into a $100 wallet-emptier. Not in Mexico, amigos!
There are three big, multi-screen collections, each inside a shopping mall—MMCinemas at Liverpool across from the cruise ship dock, Cinemark at Plaza Caracol, and deep in the new neighborhood of Fluvial Vallarta, where Puerto Vallarta’s Costco lives, there’s a 14 screen multiplex called Cinepolis. You can find schedules all over the internet. On a hot day, it’s a cool way to cool down, and especially to chill the kids.
